1.)use a straw from a kids juice box
cut it to size
2.)run it along side the base so that it is wedged in the slot that engages the locking mechanism.
3.) use black electrical tape, duct tape or scotch tape to tape it in place.
4.) optional: cut the tape so it is form-fitting around the curves and corners.
