Sounds like you need a new screen, but if you posted a picture it’d be clearer. Search for a “Asus X53E disassembly” and you should be able to find a disassembly guide or video from which you can judge what’s involved. It shouldn’t be too hard to fit a replacement. With a bit of luck you’ll find a replacement screen or bare LCD panel on eBay for that model.
