It may sounds like a scary solution, but it worked for me… TWICE!
-My wife's Samsung S5 power button stopped working. So she has to make sure that her phone is always charged. But it happened when the phone got completely drained out. We charged it.. but the couldn't start it with the power button. When we press the home or volume buttons we could just see the battery icon and the percentage. After trying so many options we end up with a unique solution.

I took out one cotton ear bud.. dipped it in a nail polish remover and pressed the bud around the gaps of the power button and within a second it started. I think it's just got connected with circuit inside the phone. It worked for me twice and the phone is working fine.
