Display problem - bands across bottom 1/3 of screen

Hi,
I have just replaced the display cable on this MBP, it had a grey band across the bottom 1/3 of the screen with some vertical coloured lines in the center. You can see the ghost of a window through it as you move finder windows around. The band would flicker or occasionally disappear on hinge movement. So figuring it was the cable, I replaced it,(have done this before a couple of times) On this occasion the fault remains, unchanged. The only thing I noticed while in there was the left hand side of the inverter cable appears to have pinched at some point. Not sure of that could be related.
