Computer restarts in the middle of disk boot

I am trying to boot an original Macintosh.  I have 4 different bootable disks, each results in a happy face and the computer proceeds to boot from them, but then about a couple seconds into the process the computer resets and goes back to the power-on startup screen.

Any ideas what might be causing this?  Dirty heads?  Bad RAM?
