Simple questions first: Did you check if the electronic contacts got dirty when you dropped the lens? Did you look at a tear down, e.g. this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9umAQ1-an4. It seems like there are directly flat cables below the first 4 screws. I would start by taking them out and putting them in again. This stuff easily gets bad contact.
