Why is my transmission slipping and truck losing power?

We have a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4 6.0 Automatic not long ago the transmission started slipping and losing power and the transmission tempature hot. We changed transmission fluid and filter, getting worse. My husband is not a mechanic please give me some advice on these issues thanks.
