Is it like a message such as 'Google keyboard has stopped working.'?
If yes, sometimes resetting the app data for that application can fix the problem.
To do this you'll need to go into the device settings (Settings app) > Applications (probably under the device tab) > look for GBoard or Google Keyboard tap on that > click on storage and/or clear data / cache.
