Sounds like the board needs to be cleaned up. Liquid will definitely take a toll on any electronic device.
You can always follow the advice from this [post|432370].
You can also go hardcore and [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luHI4UjkyCY&feature=youtu.be&t=5m37s|disassemble]the keyboard and clean all the corrosion you find. Just ensure you use >91% isopropyl alcohol. Anything else with more water content will just not work.
