Brake Booster Electrical Plug

Is there an electrical plug that is under the drivers  side dash, that goes to the Brake Booster? If so, and it was unplugged or possibly messed with, would it cause your brakes to fail and make hissing sounds? If this is true as well, how do you fix it?
