In the case of your Kindle, I recommend that you totally disassemble it using these guides [guide|99291] Then clean every part with some 90%+ isopropyl alcohl. That includes the cables, connectors etc. Use something like this guide [guide|5825] to see how to clean a device. The guide was written for an iPhone but the same pretty much applies to any device. After you clean it and have it dried, replace the battery and then reassemble. Only then can you evaluate your Kindle for any other damage.
