MacAirboots w/ battery disconnected, won't boot if battery connected

MacBook Air 13" mid-2011 4,2 A1369.
-
I had Apple store replace the battery in 2015, the new battery has 288 cycles and is 76% battery health when fully charged.
+
MacAirboots w/ battery disconnected, but won't boot if battery connected.
-
Symptoms: MacBook Air does not power on, completely dead if battery connected (with or without Magsafe connected to Power, MagSafe shows as orange for a while charging, then green -- normal).
+
Detail: fairly new battery, 288 cycles, replaced by Apple.
-
I opened the case and disconnected the battery. Then, when plugged in to Magsafe (green) with NO battery connected, it powers on and boots normally every time the first time, and NEVER the second time.
+
Battery charges OK, 76% battery health.
-
If I disconnect the Magsafe power when the battery is disconnected, it's like the "first" time and reliably powers on and boots,
+
MacBook Air does not power on, completely dead.
-
If I reconnect the battery, the first time I can power on and boot, but then, never again (untildisconnecting battery).
+
Magsafe orange then green -- looks like charging OK.
-
Whether the battery is disconnected (or connected), holding D after pressing power does not work for diagnostics, I get DEC500 error.
+
I opened the case and disconnected the battery. Then, when plugged in to Magsafe (green) with NO battery connected, it powers on and boots normally every time.
-
When the Mac boots (powerconnected, battery disconnected), everything works fine.
+
If I reconnect the battery, won't boot. If it's plugged into Magsafe and battery is reconnected, I can boot just once. Then after shut down it's dead. To boot again, I have to disconnect the battery.
-
The *first* time I reconnect the battery only, it will not boot if battery only is installed, but if the Magsafe power is connected and battery is connected, then it will boot one time normally. This lets me test battery health: showing normal. Battery health with coconut battery shows 76%, it charges normally and runs normally, after booting, I can disconnect Magsafe and will run off the battery until shutting down normally.
-
-
But if I power off, it will not reboot until I open the case and disconnect the battery, and then reconnect the battery (or leave disconnected, and boot off Magsafe; each time after first boot, have to DISCONNECT Magsafe and no battery, then and only then can reboot).
-
-
Any ideas what components need to be replaced?

The computer started behaving oddly a few days before the complete fail -- battery showed as 100% charge and I put it to sleep, but it wouldn't start the next day until I connected to the Magsafe power supply, and then, started normally and battery showed as nearly fully charged.
-
-
Or, if I ran with Magsafe connected (usually do this), and Magsafe disconnected, rebooted even though battery near 100%.
-
-
A few days *after* symptoms started, spilled a small amount of water on upper left of keyboard -- power, delete and | key -- immediately cleaned up, computer functioned normally. Next day did not. I think this was coincidental with failure not causal as already had been behaving oddly, and power button works immediately if battery is disconnected, and Magsafe power disconnected then reconnected so "fresh".
-
-
When computer is able to be rebooted (battery disconnected, and then power attached) I have reset SMC and PRAM.
+
Have reset SMC and NVRAM. A few days ago there was a little water spilled on upper left of keyboard cleaned up immediately. Computer started behaving oddly (put to sleep on battery, would reboot) *before* this happened.
