Escape XLS won't start despite new battery and new ignition unit.

Started approx 6-7 months ago. Had to push the key hard into the ignition to get it to start. Then had to wiggle the gear stick or move the steering wheel to get it to start. Then it stopped wanting to start at all. Got a new battery - same problem. Got a new ignition switch assembly - same problem. I am spending big $$ without getting anywhere. It has a manual gear box so I can bump start without a problem.Does anyone have any advice please.
