There is a switch located behind that vent. There is a possibility that by forcing it shut you through the shaft that opens and closes the vent out of allignment with that switch. Or the motor to the vent has been damaged or the shaft it self broke. Can you here any kind of motor attempting to open the vent. Does the vent still open?
