@ndriver beesides the great link provided by @blakeklein there really is not much about what you are looking for in the manual. The issue here is that Craftsman does not provide any information about the mower deck or the engine in those manuals. Since we do not know how apart the mower deck is, I suggest you start off with the detailed parts drawing and see if that will help you to get started.
