Most likely what you are experiencing is a Tristar (U2) IC failure. This would require Microsoldering and not a DYI type of job. If you need more information feel free to post back...but I've seen this and repaired it on countless Iphones and from what you describe, I would guess that's what is wrong. Back up your Data ASAP in case it powers off and will not power back on.
