Samsung SSD in Optical Bay w/new SATA Cable not working

My friend's MacBook Pro 15'' 2011 recently died due to a screen and keyboard failure, and I was lucky enough to inherit the Samsung SSD 840 PRO, which was functioning perfectly, which he had put in this MacBook as a replacement for the optical bay.
Using the exact same Hard Drive Enclosure, SATA Cable and SSD, I replaced my own disk drive with the same setup.
Yet I'm unable to format the SSD disk and get this error message: ''Wiping volume data to prevent future accidental probing failed''.
Here is what I've tried:
* Putting the SSD back on my friend's laptop, formatting it and putting it back. Was able to format on his mac, but could not install MacOS when putting back in mine.
* Rebooting in recovery mode and use the terminal to erase or install. Same message.
* Putting the SSD in the hard drive place instead of optical bay, which allowed me to format and install OS on the SSD disk. When I put it back into the optical bay I could now access the drive, but could not use it as a startup disk as it would "disappear" from the startup disk screen. This is where I thought the cable might be unstable.
* Buying a new SATA SuperDrive Cable and replacing it. Same failure.
* Creating a bootable USB and load from there. Same failure.
I'm completely puzzled by this. I cannot understand, that moving an SSD from an '''identical''' MacBook Pro can cause so much trouble.
Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong?
