cesar, I believe that this generation iPod requires firewire for charging. It is possible that the USB is not supplying enough amperage as well as the 2nd generation iPod did not have USB support. So all your charging and syncing will have to be done via Firewire. Cables are widely available on places like this http://www.amazon.com/Retractable-Firewire-including-Generation-Eforcity/dp/B000CEE2OO .After 6 years, I would also think that I would start with a new battery before any other fault finding.
