To replace the charging port, you will need to replace the entire motherboard in the dock. The one that has the GPU on it.  You can have a look at [guide|51972|this guide], starting with step 23 to see for yourself. The fact that you have to replace the entire motherboard of inside the keyboard is the reason why they charge you that much i believe.
