Yes, shame on Vtech for not offering the option of purchasing a wristband only.  They should.  However, I found a great video on YouTube that uses Loctite Plastic Bonding System.  Loctite has a lot of glue products so, be sure to get this one specifically.  I found it at Home Depot.  Works great to bond rubber, just make sure both surfaces are very clean before you start.
