Sounds like a power port problem to me, if you have any experience soldering or micro soldering that would be my first recommendation.  That failing I would recommend a new I/O board.  Has the laptop experienced any falls? Another good step would bring this problem to the apple store as they might be able to diagnose further or recognize this issue.
