The upper "shaft" part of the agitator of my Whirlpool toploader doesn't spin, but the base "disc" part does. It still performs the spin cycle just fine.
I'm used to being able to spin the "shaft" part of the washer freely in one direction, IIRC, but if I spin it the other way it engages the "disc" part of the agitator, and maybe the tum as well, and spins it all together. This agitator "shaft" spins freely in both directions.
What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?
