All you should really have to do is to of course turn your computer off, remove the cover from the case and unplug all your speaker cables etc. that is plugged into your current soundcard. I do believe that you have a pci card. Just undo the screw that holds it to the case and pull it out. Next you get the new card, for your computer the standard card is a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live Value and plug it in and assemble in reverse order. You should also have a driver disk with your sound card. Start your computer up after you reinstalled the new card and XP will most likely see it as new hardware and proceed by following the instructions as directed by your software. Always make sure that after you installed it and windows is up and running that your card show up in Device manager as working properly. Also make sure that you update the driver for your soundcard since sometimes the drivers that come with it are already out-of-date.That is all I can think off right now, let me know how it went and if there is anything that we can do for you , good luck.
