Changed U2 chip and phone displayed dead charging symbol then stopped.

Hello all,

I have been repairing phones and tablets now for a couple years and recently decided to get my hands into logic board repair on apple devices. I have an iphone 5C that when plugged in does absolutely nothing, I get no audible chime from the computer and the phone is completely unresponsive with a black screen.

The client also stated she was using a non apple approved charger.

With my limited knowledge and experience I diagnosed it as U2 failure or thought that would be the best place to start.

I taped up my entire board with capton tape only exposing the u2 chip and began the process of removing it with my hot air gun under the amscope.

Well long story short, everything went extremely well until it came time to put the new chip on,,, at first my air was too high and I would blow the chip out of position, other times it stuck but I could see that the solder pulled the chip in kind of crooked.

I knew this would not work so without even testing I removed the chip.... while yesterday I was down to my fifth and last chip I was able to get the chip on perfectly straight.

I put the phone back together, plugged it into the computer and got an audible chime YAY!! Phone displayed a dead battery that was charging and I was very happy and gave myself a big high five.... until 5 minutes later when I come back to check on it and its completely dead again.

I checked standard things like a loose connection and even put a new battery in but the results dont change and I am very deflated at this point. There are a couple things I think may have happend ...

1. While I taped the board up and was always very careful with my temperature and airflow may I have fried something else?

2. Did the U2 chip fail again on this phone?

3. Is the pmic the next place I should start?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
