Is the keyboard and-or battery broken

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

My girlfriend spilled tea on her macbook and we are trying to fix it. [post|408646]

After this question we took the macbook apart and cleaned most components. After putting it together we noticed a few problems that i don't exactly know how to fix...

1) Without battery the macbook starts. The color of the chargerlight is amber. With the battery connected the chargerlight doesn't work at all. Since there is still power (80%) in the battery however, the macbook does start. Am I correct in assuming that it is the battery that is broken here?

2) Second. When we try to start the macbook it goes to the login screen. We can't login because it seems the alt-shift keys are on. Everything we type is like "Œ„‰ÂÊÁ". Also the guest-login doesn't work (after clicking on it, it shows only the apple sign and after a while the computer quits), I am assuming because the computer gets mixed signals with alt-shift on. Are both issues here connected? And if so, is there a way to clean the keyboard without having to replace the entire uppercase? (say, carefully pour some alcohol on the keyboard and remove it again). Lastly, would it be possible to login using an external keyboard?

Thanks in advance!

ps. the original question stated a macbook from 2012. We found out it was 2013.
