It's a one in a thousand chance, but it happens. It's not the drop that did it, but the flying battery. When the battery disconnected without powering the phone down, it may have bricked the flash storage. Not alot you can do in this case, but if you're lucky you may be able to recover your data using your PC. Plug it in and find the file with your data. Remember to set up all of Google's apps next time, as they all back up everything to the cloud for free. Especially google Photos. Also, try putting your old motherboard in the new phone, along with a new battery. It may be something to do with the battery or screen.
