well tristan , it seems you have a conundrum. Sounds like there you need a replacement battery as well as a new harddrive. Sounds as if you dropped your ipod a couple of times. You can buy this for like 30-40 USD on ebay.But first, you wanna get a new battery and install it. If your ipod still doesn turn on, it will be your logic board. I hope this has helped you.
