Apple Watch won't power up, has charger snake icon

Apple Watch displays a snake charger cable icon while connected to charger cable. It will not power up. Tried all trouble shooting from Apple: power reset, hard reset, leave off charger till dead then charge again but nothing. Help! No physical damage to unit.
