it would be useful if you could provide an higher level of detail about up to which level your laptop was torn down. In my understanding you did not touch the software though, correct?

Focussing on the hardware:

Laptops' '''wifi antenna''' generally lives inside the top area of the display lid. it is connected through two cables (generally black and white) to the '''wifi module''' which is plugged into the motherboard, under the keyboard. so the said cables run through the hinges' cases of the laptop.

In the same way, a LCD / digitizer connector runs from the display itself to the motherboard through the said hinges' cases.

My rough guess is that whoever tore the laptop down forgot to connect back some connectors. It happens all the time, happened to me as well. If this guy knew what he was doing, it is very unlikely that any part was damaged. Just tear it down again and find the disconnected guys
