I have a D70 that is just beginning to have this problem. Will try the alcohol fix. Used to be able to buy pre-cut leather/leatherette for the old film SLRs  like here: http://www.cameraleather.com

Would be great if there was a source for the vinyl/rubber material Nikon has been using since the F4, F100, etc.

Even better if it had a self adhesive backing...any ideas or sources?
