Nothing shows on screen when keyboard/trackpad is plugged in.

I replaced the LCD on a 2015 Retina MacBook and now the laptop isn't showing anything on the screen except a battery indicator when plugging in the laptop. However after unplugging the keyboard/trackpad from the mainboard the image comes up right away and the laptop boots. I was able to plug in the keyboard/trackpad after the laptop booted and then the trackpad would work but the keyboard still wouldn't. It's also worth mentioning that the power button still works fine when the rest of the keyboard doesn't. My thought at this point is that the laptop is rejecting the new LCD but I have no way of testing that. Has anyone seen this issue before or have any thoughts? Thanks!
