@jhb , Joe, It is possible the battery is faulty. Try a reset, disconnect charger and remove battery, press and hold power button for 10 seconds, and leave the laptop for a couple minutes. Then reconnect the battery and charger, and try booting it. You can also check the battery perhaps with a DVOM to see if it is holding  much of a charge while it is out.  Good luck.
