1991 VideoMovie video camera viewfinder not working

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

-I recently got a 1991 JVC GR-303U VHS-C VideoMovie video camera. It has numerous issues, but if I can get the viewfinder working, I believe I can fix the other issues. I can turn the camera on and off, eject the tape, etc, but the display never starts. I have a few ideas, so I'll list them off.
+I recently got a 1991 JVC GR-303U VHS-C VideoMovie video camera.
-1. Not enough power. I don't have a 9.6V PSU lying around, but I have a 9.5V one with more amperage and the same polarity. If I do anything that would take an adequate amount of power, it complains about the lack of a battery. Perhaps the .1V is extremely important?
+It has numerous issues, but if I can get the viewfinder working, I believe I can fix the other issues.
-2. Bad capacitors. This is 1991 after all. The bad capacitor plague was starting.
+I can turn the camera on and off, eject the tape, etc, but the display never starts. I found a working solution to power it, so that shouldn't be the issue.
-3. Shoddy connections. Again. 1991. 26 years for parts to oxidize, corrode, and degrade in other ways.
+I should also mention that the camera's tape drive seems to be a little... off. Does the tape drive use belts on this particular camera?
-I should also mention that the camera's tape drive seems to be a little... off. But it acts like it's possibly a setting that was incorrect. I'm hoping the viewfinder is an easy fix, since it's the only display I can use without spending more money.

-Thanks for taking the time to read this.
+Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm hoping someone here knows the answer, or, at the very least, the location of a free service manual, because I'm totally lost at this point.
