If your iPod got wet, try to open the back cover of it and let it dry under a fan and only after it dries completely check whether it is working. Don`t dry under direct sunlight or hair drier. Also make sure that you followed the advise of many on here about cleaning it with ethyl alcohol to displace the water that may cause corrosion later on. I guess your best be would be to replace the screen and see if that will resolve your issues.
