The simple answer is it is your water fill switch. On the front of the console is the knob you adjust for the amount of water you want. It works by the use of a diaphragm being moved by the air pressure sent to it from a air chamber on the side of the tub, up a tube, and into the switch.
This water level switch is an easy fix, You can change it your self.
Watch this video to show you the method. Remember to unplug the power plug and turn off the water. \also another tip would be to manually turn the timer to spin to pump out the water, as you need to get behind the washer to work on it.
