I have seen several other guides for xbox mods where the xclamps are put back in-this is before RROD appears-basically they are trying to prevent RROD. so the question is... do the guides recommend washers and bolts because the xclamp is useless or because they found another way of doing the same job?

I repaired my xbox with an online set of bolts, but have now been given a friends to repair and am wondering if we can get away with just redoing the thermal paste and reapplying the xclamps.
