If the work was carried out recently to repair the reversing lights by a garage, there should be some sort of ''guarantee on their workmanship'', provided by them, even if it is only for 30 days etc.
Take the car back to them and explain the problem and show them as well (hopefully the problem will happen when you do this) and ask them to check it out, as it is causing problems for you..
