Looks like you and your friends managed to break the LCD display. The screen of an iPhone is basically composed out of two layers: an LCD / digitizer (the actual display and touch screen of the phone) and a protective glass layer that goes on top. Cracks in the LCD always result in these black spots, flickering lines or no image at all.
