Mac Mini won't power on after SSD Replacement

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

Hi All,

I was hoping to find an answer here by reading through old posts, but so far I haven't come across an answer. Forgive me if I'm repeating something that's already been discussed.

Specs as follows....

Model: A1347

Mac Mini Core 2 Duo 2.4 (Mid-2010)

2 GB RAM

360GB (5400 RPM)

I recently purchased a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD and two Corsair 4GB (1066) RAM. A friend of mine just did this almost exact same upgrade (he has mid-2011 mini so used 1333 RAM) and had no issues.

I cloned the existing HD to the new SSD (have tried booting from it on another machine and it works perfectly) replaced the HD with the SSD, replaced the RAM, put it all back together again and it won't turn on. I get no chime, no fan sounds, no nothing. I do however, get a red light shining through the headphone jack.

Thinking the problem might be the new RAM, or something to do with the new SSD, I removed all new components and put back my old HD and RAM. Same issue. Could I have possibly damaged the Logic Board during the removal process? I was ever so careful, used all the correct tools etc. etc. I have also since removed the entire Logic Board to see if there is any visible damage and I can't see anything. I have checked and re-checked all connections and it all appears to be fine. One thing I did not do (which wasn't outlined here but I have since found in other threads) is use an antistatic wristband. Could that have done it?

Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be so much appreciated! It's such a crappy feeling to think I might have nuked it. A slow mini is better than no mini; I'd go back to the old in a heartbeat.
