-Your camera does not have an internal battery to maintain the settings if the battery is removed. There is a non user replaceable capacitor mounted on the systemboard, which is kept charged by the battery and it will maintain the settings if the battery is removed for charging, but it only has enough charge to do this for approximately 24 hours. (It will be less then 24 hours if the battery has not been in long enough to fully charge and then the battery is removed for whatever reason). After this time if a charged battery is not re-inserted back into the camera, the settings will revert back to their default state.
