Okay so from looking at the pictures, I do not see why 1 thing would affect the other. And what is getting me is that it also wont use any external devices. So my guess would be that there may be some small damage to the main chip itself. What you can also try is replacing the OLD LCD and see if it works then. This also may not work :/
