John,  Older models were threaded into tilt linkage, so to remove them you would turn counter clockwise to remove lever. If like the F150 with plastic tilt lever, lever is just a push/wedge fit on a tapered rectangle, remove screws under the steering column to remove trim and slide lever off taper shaft.
