Hi Bruce !
If you complete this repair yourself, you should upload a guide and share your fix! I did some digging and found a few resources for your repair...
It looks like the replacement glass is fairly inexpensive. Check out the ones I found [https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=canon+50d+lcd+glass+replacement&tbm=shop|here.]
-You can also follow [guide|5042|this guide] or the technique [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYBXkqvayqc|this person used] to replace the glass. Looks like all you'll need is a suction cup, prying tool, and possibly [product|IF145-198-4|some heat from something like an iOpener or heat gun] to help soften the adhesive on the cracked glass.

But don't use too much heat! You wouldn't want to damage the LCD beneath the glass.
Hope this helps!
