Why does my R2 button rewind when I watch movies?

I was watching a DvD and i wanted to fast forward a scene then noticed that when i press the R2 button it rewinds.

Also when i would play games such as open world games i would shoot with R2 and it would move me slightly to the left.

I bought the controller used from gamestop.
