I have a Panasonic DVR connected to a Samsung UA55JU7500 Smart TV and experiencing  long delay (up to 15 mins) for them to connect.

Solved the problem by setting the HDMI output of the Panasonic DVR to 1080i instead of 1080p .

The two now connect almost immediately.
