As regards to your cable/connector problem. If the 'locking bar' seems to be not functioning properly, perhaps you could try the following.
Tape down the connector as before and ensure that the touchscreen is working. Then apply small 'dob(s)' of ''neutral cure silicon sealant'' (available at hardware stores) between the cable, the connector and the systemboard (or any other suitable point) to hold everything in place. Keep the tape in place to hold it in position while waiting for the silicon to 'cure'. (read the manufacturer's guidelines on the product for how long this takes). Neutral cure silicon is good because it is non conducting and is good for a long time. Once it is set you can remove the tape. Then test that it is still working correctly.
Do not get over enthusiastic with the silicon. Before it sets it is very sticky and messy and hard to remove. It may be easier to apply it with a small applicator (a long matchstick perhaps). Practice first on a piece of scrap material, so that you do a neat job.
