Anyways, the problem you are having is most likely to be magnetic interference. Right next to the home button you will see a gold string that look like 4 semi-square dots. When that makes contact with metal it makes the magnetic interference creating the ghosting.
Solution: Put a little black tape on the gold part to avoid making that interference. You can find that little tape on a new replacement part. Most techs make the mistake of taking it out believing it needs to be taken out when it actually needs to stay on.

Try that and I am almost sure it will work. If it doesn't then you have a bad digitizer or you need a soft reset. iPad minis are still a bit mystery because of their infinite issues.
