Your issue sounds like the battery and/or case are swelling and crimping the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard and track pad to the logic board. There have been fixes discussed using adhoc materials to fix the issue, but I am not convinced it is an oversight that Apple should have a real fix for by now. I am going to talk to them in the next few days and will report back.
