Okay, just a note here. The DVD drive is KEYED, via inboard firmware, to each console. This encryption key prevents the games from being copied and the copy being played on the console. The key can be read and reflashed back on to a new drive but one cannot just pop the old drive out and pop a new drive in, in order to fix DVD issues.
