Only third touch works on new digitizer?

This was my first time replacing a phone screen, and at first it appeared not to work at all. After poking it for a while, I realized that if you touch and hold in two separate locations, the third simultaneous touch always works. Is this something wrong with the phone, or did I get a bad replacement part?
